Aniridia is an eye disorder characterized by a complete or partial absence of the colored part of the eye (the iris). It may be congenital or caused by a penetrant injury.
Aniridia is often associated with other ocular pathologies, often with macular hypoplasia and with optic nerve hypoplasia, with cataract, with changes in the cornea.
It is associated with a decreased visibility, which cannot be subject to correction, with fear of light, with nystagmus, sometimes with congenital glaucoma.
Treatment
The iris-crystal regulation is possible only with surgical interventions.
The purpose of the operation
The purpose of the operation is to implant an artificial iris. The implants are individually selected according to the color of the iris of the uninfected eye of the patient, to achieve the maximum cosmetic effect.
Another purpose of the operation is to place the iris-crystal diaphragm of the eye and reduce the tuft of the rays of light that goes to the retina.
